I've anchored my career to date around a couple of simple points that feel right to me. One is innovation, two is people and three is a better way of doing things.
I've always loved the frontier and am fascinated by what's around the corner for society. I am a default optimistic person when it comes to technology and believe when done right, is the highest leverage way for people to improve their lives. Although software, drones and crypto may seem worlds apart, they all follow a common thread for me personally and have felt near clones on the inside of the companies I've worked with.
I get my energy from people and believe the right way to operate is in service of others. This has been a helpful frame of reference which has delivered me success in a broad set of commercial roles where the ultimate goal has been to deliver value and service to customers, sometimes in abstract ways, other times in ways that are clearly defined and measurable.
I have begun to love writing more and more, both as a way to improve my thinking and a way to share with the world what I find interesting. Over the years I have written inconsistently, though am now prioritising it as a core area of where I spend time each week.
I write what I think, what I find interesting, or want to learn about. I don't make edits and I post as soon as it's done. The goal isn't to be a professional writer, I'm writing purely for myself and if others like it, thats a bonus.
I have surprisingly found it to be a great way to meet people, so if you read something I've written and feel compelled to chat about it, please reach out.
This is a long and unstructured list of principles I've started to write or steal that feel align to how I think and see the world. Some are career focused, others not so much. I'll add, change or expand on these over time.
What makes me tick is hearing about what makes others tick. I love to talk to people about what they find interesting and seeing their eyes light up whilst doing it.
I spend many mornings each week at my local cafe meeting with people who started off as strangers but are now my friends. People from all walks of age, life and "status".
I'm always open to phone calls and sometimes coffee so please feel free to drop in if thats of interest.
